COVID-19 Impact
Important Changes to Storytime Village
Programs and Events
Greetings Friends,

The COVID-19 pandemic is a unique situation that is posing challenges for many nonprofits and changing how we traditionally serve our communities. Our top priority is to protect the health and safety of our Storytime Village team, as well as students we work with, partners, and friends of the organization. Our team will continue to develop plans that provide literacy resources and educational experiences to students and families we serve through virtual alternatives.
Although we will not be hosting in-person events and programs for the time being, Storytime Village knows how important it is to keep our early learners reading. One in six children who are not reading proficiently in third grade do not graduate from high school on time. This is a rate four times greater than that of proficient readers. Because early reading is crucial for the success of our Kansas children, we are committed to providing literacy resources that can be accessed during the pandemic.
Whether we’re adapting a literacy camp onto a virtual platform, planning book and mask distributions, partnering with the local drive-in, or hosting virtual literacy workshops, we’ll continue to find creative ways to serve Kansas children during these times when it is not safe to gather. Follow us on social media and keep in touch with our development of socially distanced programs.
Thank you for your continued support. It takes a whole village to raise a child, and together, we will get through these uncertain times and help our students continue to be better readers and learners!
All the best,
