Read & Rise Breakfast Gala

November 4, 2024

BE THE VILLAGE.

Join us at the Read & Rise Breakfast Gala to honor individuals and organizations who are rising to the occasion to contribute to improving Kansas children's lives through literacy.

The Read & Rise Breakfast Gala also supports our movement to create a culture of literacy for underserved students in grades K through 3rd.

The African adage, “It takes a whole village to raise a child,” is more relevant than ever. You are invited to be the village and support Read and Rise: A Family Literacy Program when it is needed most.

All sponsorship levels are an investment in programming that will inspire a lifelong love of reading in underserved Kansas children. We’re looking for organizations and individuals who share a common goal: improving children's access to books and love for reading. And when you look at early literacy impact, that should include ALL of us.

Below are opportunities for you to join the village and support learning resources, access to books, and literacy programming during a time that it is needed most.

About the Read & Rise Program

Read and Rise is a family and community literacy program hosted by Storytime Village, Inc., to help Kansas children, K-3rd Grade, rise to a higher level in their reading proficiency. The program reinforces the value of the “village” and families' important role in their children’s literacy development through targeted and frequent literacy activities that emphasize family strengths, culture, language, and traditions.

Storytime Village began implementing the Read and Rise program in 2014. The pandemic paused the program. Storytime Village will work to expand the program throughout underserved schools in Wichita and the state Through a collaborative effort

with schools, the community, and corporate partners, the Read and Rise program will help instill a lifelong love of reading in children, promote the parent’s role as the first and most important teacher, and provide them the tools to be just that. This is the first step in ensuring academic success for all students.
